| | it's been snowing all day. three new inches on my car in kalamazoo. 28 degrees or so. perfect time for a bike ride. i headed out to the k college arboretum on snow/icy/slick/wet/dirty roads and after two miles realized this may be the most miserable day of my life. none of the events that were to follow would alter that notion one whit. maybe 60 feet into the trail i found that snow provides all the rolling efficiency of thick mud/molasses and makes one feel as though they have accidentally gained 40 or so pounds. instantaneously. the next hour was miserable and the painful monotony of pedaling through wet nasty was broken only when my feet became excruciatingly inflamed by the wet and cold. i decided to call it quits and rode back downtown to the gym for a hot shower and a chance to hose off my bike. nice way to finish the day. except the showers weren't working and by working i mean they stopped giving hot water. and the hose exploded releasing five gallons of water into the back hallway. i think that's when i really started to enjoy myself. |
